Sonny

This is a horse character of mine named Sonny. He's drawn in the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron style here. Sonny is based off a friend of mine's gelding (also named Sonny) who past away a few years ago. My friend grew up with Sonny and she tells me he was the epitome of a great kid's horse. He was patient with her learning and always happy to see her.

She said that back when she was a kid she would ride Sonny up to a local Dairy Queen and go through the drive-through. She would buy Sonny and herself each an ice cream come and they'd hang out eating while everyone came up to ask questions and pet Sonny. I thought that was a super cute story I drew Sonny in the spirit of a very happy go lucky type horse, the kind of guy who is always glad to see ya (especially if you're a kid).
